About Our Music Lessons

Our music lessons teach students how to play and care for their instruments as well as the necessary skills and techniques as a musician.

At Gibson School of Music & Arts, we offer a wide range of music lessons for various instruments, including guitar, bass guitar, organ, trumpet, drums, piano, violin, saxophone, flute, cello, and clarinet. Our experienced and talented instructors have backgrounds and styles that span across classical, jazz, gospel, R&B, and rock music. We are proud to have a diverse team of professionals, including school teachers, recording artists, producers, band directors, and music therapists, all dedicated to providing the highest quality music education.

Bass Guitar

Students will learn tuning technique, fingering position of the bass, reading of notation, theory, chords and inversions for all genres of music.

Organ

Students will learn reading of music and theory, technique, scales, arpeggios and chords for all genres of music. Studying presets, drawbars and pedal techniques will be paramount.

Trumpet

This lesson provides an understanding of an embouchure and their instrument including the mouthpiece, teaching a student how to keep the corners of their mouth firm so that air does not leak out. Students will also learn how to play their scales.

Drums

Instruction includes learning to play and handle the drum set, rudiments, paradiddles, learning to read music and band charts and learning to play various styles of music and beats.

Piano

Students will learn reading of music and theory, technique, scales, arpeggios, notes, and chords for all genres of music.

Violin

Lessons include how to care for, tune and hold the violin. Also, students will learn theoretical knowledge along with the mechanics of the violin.

During this lesson, students will learn the correct way of playing their instrument, embouchure control, hand and finger placement, breath control, sound projection, music reading techniques, and song and etude study.

Students will learn to read notes, rhythm, dynamics and music theory while getting the best sound from the instrument.

Students will learn to read music, learn about music theory and absorb traditional classic cello training and techniques.
